If you are interested in exploring both what Oregon and Washington State have to offer, a Carson Ridge Luxury Cabin is the place for you. These cabins are located on Washington side of the Columbia River that borders Oregon. By staying on the border, you get the best of both worlds! No matter how long you are staying, there are plenty of activities you can pack into a Washington and Oregon itinerary for one week or less.
Outdoor Adventure
Whether you are planning on spending 7 days in Oregon and Washington or just a weekend, you absolutely have to explore the great outdoors. You can spend days just in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest alone! There is so much to do in this expanse of wilderness, but some of our favorites include hikes to gushing waterfalls and through underground caves. To get a taste of this national forest, we recommend a hike to the Lewis River Falls. Its enchanting cascade of water measures over 200 feet across and drops 43 feet into a cool, clear pool beneath. Take a break during your hike to find solitude in the magical sound of running water as patches of sunlight peek through the trees. Then, make your way underground into the Ape Caves. These 2 and a half mile long lava tubes are natural tunnels that were created when molten lava once flowed through thousands of years ago. Both adventure spots are in close proximity to each other near Mt. St. Helens. If you’re planning on exploring this particular forest, make sure to check if you need a permit!
There are tons of other trails other than the ones in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. If you’re looking to begin your day with a short hike, try a trail like the Catherine Creek Arch Loop. Here, you’ll find gorgeous views as well as some Native American history. During the summer, the valley fills with countless wildflowers, but there is breathtaking scenery at any time of year. It’s the perfect walk to embark on before going on your next excursion!
Visit a Winery
The Hood River area has an incredible brewery and winery scene. North of California’s famous Wine Country, the Columbia River Gorge is home to some great wineries. Many of them are in close proximity to Carson Ridge Luxury Cabins and are the perfect way to get a true taste of the area. Sit back and relax with a glass of wine in your hand! Syncline Winery, Cor Cellars, and Domaine Pouillon are among our favorites. Don’t forget to get a bottle to bring home to remember your trip by!
Tour a Museum
When creating a Washington and Oregon itinerary for one week or less, make it educational! There are many places to go in Hood River to learn a little something, like the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum. This museum has one of the largest collections of still-flying antique aeroplanes and still-driving antique automobiles in the country! See their collection of over 130 cars to learn about the start of motorized transportation. They have events at times, so check to see what’s happening while you’re in the area!
