4 of the Best Places for Mt. Hood Skiing

As the snow begins to fall and leave a white blanket of powder in the Pacific Northwest, the Carson Ridge Luxury Cabins are tucked peacefully away in a winter wonderland. The fresh snow leaves the perfect winter sports landscape. Skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing are some of the most popular activities between January and March. And nearby Mount Hood, Oregon, is one of the best places to enjoy these winter activities. There are some premier ski lodges within an hour radius of our luxury cabins, and we recommend making a day trip to some daring slopes. Here are 4 of the best places for Mt. Hood skiing!

4 of the Best Places for Mt. Hood Skiing

Cooper Spur

The closest ski lodge to our luxury cabins is the Cooper Spur Mountain Resort. The rustic mountain lodge offers a great winter sports facility as well as a farm-to-table restaurant. Located in the depths of the Mount Hood National Forest, Cooper Spur offers year-round outdoor activities to enjoy. Winter is the peak season for the Cooper Spur Ski Area, which features Mt. Hood skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and tubing. The terrain, dotted with pine trees and featuring stretches of meadow, is for beginners to intermediates. After a morning on the slopes, warm up inside the alpine lodge with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy the pristine views.

Timberline Lodge

One of the most popular Mt. Hood skiing facilitators is Timberline Lodge, the only ski area in North America that is open all months of the year. With 3,690 vertical feet, the Mt. Hood Timberline Lodge beats out everyone else in the United States Pacific Northwest. In addition, the lodge’s location near the top of an 11,245-foot volcano makes the views absolutely breathtaking and the ride entirely thrilling. Don’t miss out on a Mt. Hood skiing adventure on the tallest peak in Oregon!

Mt. Hood Meadows

Mt. Hood skiing is a favorite activity in the area, but we can’t discount snowshoeing. Mt. Hood Meadows offers Tubbs Snowshoe Rentals, leading the trail in snowshoe innovation with material technology. Enjoy top-of-the-line equipment that will propel you along a variety of snowshoe trails. Three trails loop from the main lodge and feature stunning scenery of Umbrella Falls and glades.

Mt. Hood Skibowl

One great option for Mt. Hood skiing is the Skibowl. The Mt. Hood Skibowl offers a snow tubing and winter adventure park that will delight snow-goers with an assortment of “snow play” activities. For those who have not yet mastered skiing, snow tubing is a great alternative that will still give you a rush without having to navigate your skis and poles. The specially designed tubes allow you to whiz from the top of the main hill at breathtaking speeds. Mt. Hood skiing and snowboarding opportunities also abound here with 65 runs and a vertical drop of 1,500 feet!
