What to Expect on the Mount Hood Railroad
The Ride
A ride on the Mount Hood Railroad is gorgeous at any time of the year. An indoor tour of the area can be a welcomed respite from the hot or cold, and it is a great way to see some scenery from the comfort of a chair. During the spring and summer, you’ll speed by colorful fruit tree blossoms and wildflowers. In autumn, it’s the perfect way to see the amazing fall foliage.
First Stop: Parkdale
When you go on the Mount Hood Railroad, you’ll be brought to the small town of Parkdale. Here, passengers can unload to enjoy the grassy park area. We recommend ordering a catered lunch beforehand so you can picnic outdoors! You will also find the Hutson Museum. If you have time after your picnic, you can come and learn all about the rocks, gems, and minerals of our area and see artifacts from the Native Americans and pioneers. After your time in Parkdale, you’ll be brought back to the Hood River Depot.
