There’s much to love about visiting the sensational Columbia River Gorge in the fall. There are plenty of things to do in the Columbia River Gorge in the fall, including wine tastings at top Hood River wineries like Evoke (formerly Naked) Winery.
Though Evoke Winery and other Columbia River Gorge wineries are worth visiting any time of year, fall is our favorite season to indulge in a wine tasting or two. After all, fall is the annual harvest season, when winemakers across the region harvest the yearly crop and begin the long process of creating this year’s delicious vintage. This fall, we encourage you to explore the Columbia River Gorge, stopping to enjoy a sip and a swirl at Evoke Winery and other area wineries as you travel.
Of course, delicious wine, including our custom Friendship Wine, can (and should!) also be enjoyed in the privacy of our luxury cabins in Washington. A Great Tasting at Evoke Winery in Hood River
Though wine is produced all over Washington and Oregon, one of the most popular wine-producing regions in the state is Willamette Valley to the southwest of us and Walla Walla to the northeast.
While you can certainly enjoy a delicious wine-forward getaway in both destinations, Hood River Wineries offer a slightly different flavor profile and a more relaxed change of pace. Wineries here are more than worth discovering, especially as the annual harvest season begins.
Though there are many fantastic wineries in the Columbia River Gorge that we recommend visiting, Evoke Winery in Hood River is one of our favorites. Evoke Winery, formerly known as Naked Winery, has tasting rooms all over the Pacific Northwest, including right here in Hood River.
Evoke Winery has been making wine since 2005 and prides itself on producing approachable wines worth drinking, no matter the occasion. As the name of their Winery suggests, their wines are meant to “evoke” happiness in their drinkers. Accordingly, the wine labels at Evoke Winery are fun, playful, and at times suggestive and evocative.
The playful nature of their wines is one of the things we love most about Evoke Winery. Their grapes are sourced from vineyards across the Pacific Northwest, including in the Columbia River Gorge.
Over the years, many of the wines produced by Evoke Winery have won awards, including its 95-point and double gold Best in Class Oh! Orgasmic 2019 Tempranillo. You can get your hands on some of the delicious wines produced by Evoke Winery at their Hood River Tasting Room.
The Hood River location is Evoke Winery’s flagship location. It offers wine lovers a hip and beautiful space to sip wines, with gorgeous panoramic views as well. They have indoor and outdoor spaces open seven days a week for wine tastings.
With cheese and small bites to order and share, Evoke Winery in Hood River is a wonderful place to kick back and unwind after otherwise enjoying the best of the Columbia River Gorge. Their outdoor patio is even pet-friendly!
More Great Hood River Wineries to Visit This Fall
Evoke Winery sources its grapes from various vineyards around the Pacific Northwest. Others in the area source their grapes exclusively from estate vineyards or those found in the Columbia Gorge American Viticultural Area (AVA), which is found on both sides of the Columbia River. Grapes grown in this part of the state benefit from a drier climate than areas to our west, thanks to the rainshadow effect of Mounts Hood and Adams.
The Columbia River Gorge is a relatively small growing area, but there are more than 40 Hood River wineries throughout! Thanks to the diverse climate and geography of the area, they grow quite a few grape varietals, too! Whatever your wine pleasure, we’re sure you can find something delicious from the top Hood River wineries. This fall is a great time to get started!
