What to Do in the Cascade Locks Marine Park
Go on a River Cruise
During the months of May through October, Sternwheeler Cruises leave from the marina at Cascade Locks Marine Park. Cruise options include dinner excursions, Sunday brunch, sightseeing tours, and journeys through the landmarks of the Columbia River Gorge. No matter which one you choose, you’ll be treated to gorgeous views of the river. Plus, your captain is sure to tell you some little-known facts about the surrounding area!
Grab a Bite
Locks Waterfront Grill is located at the Visitors’ Center at Cascade Locks Marine Park. Here, guests can enjoy expertly prepared dishes from local and organic ingredients. Favorite menu items include the fresh cut French fries, fish and chips, and Painted Hills Organic ground beef burgers. However, the best part is the gorgeous views you’ll get from the surrounding Gorge. The restaurant is positioned on the riverbank, so you’ll feel like you are right on the water.
The East Wind Drive-In is also an incredible spot to stop for a snack. You’ll love grabbing an ice cream cone to walk around the rest of the park with! We recommend getting their soft serve swirl– there are tons of flavors.
Have a Drink
There are tons of great breweries near Carson Ridge Luxury Cabins, one of them being Thunder Island Brewing! Located in Cascade Locks Marine Park, this taproom is open every day of the week. Their brews are delicious, but you’ll also be impressed by the food. Each dish is carefully prepared and packed with flavor. One of our favorites is the slow-smoked prime rib that is served every Friday. Every season, both the beer and menus change. You never know what you’ll end up with!
Have a Picnic
Are you looking for a nice spot for a picnic? Cascade Locks Marine Park is an easily accessible area to relax with a picnic. We suggest grabbing a bottle of wine at one of the many wineries in the area then embarking on a romantic outdoor meal with your sweetheart. You can choose to sit at the picnic tables or lay a blanket by the water to enjoy the view!
Visit Historic Sites
There are multiple National Historic Landmarks located throughout Cascade Locks Marine Park. Learn about the area at the on-site museum and the Oregon Pony Locomotive. This locomotive was the first of its kind to be built in the area, changing its history forever! Located right next to each other, these are some of the best places to stop to learn about the past.
