Things to do in Hood River This Winter
Though there are plenty of things to do in the Columbia River Gorge in general, even in the winter, one of our favorites is visiting the charming town of Hood River. There are plenty of great things to do in Hood River year-round, and it’s only about 30 minutes from our Washington Cabins. And, unlike at other times of the year, you’ll enjoy far fewer crowds in local shops, restaurants, and attractions, making the experience all the more enjoyable.
This winter, we encourage you to get out for an adventure, whether hiking, chasing waterfalls, or seeking a snowy winter wonderland for snow sports. When you’re done, head into town and enjoy some of the best things to do in Hood River before retreating to the cozy comforts of our luxury Washington cabins.
- Beer is a central part of the culture in Oregon, and stopping in at local breweries is one of the more popular things to do in Hood River. The top spots to grab a pint are pFriem Family Brewers, Double Mountain Brewery, Full Sail Brewing, and Ferment Brewing Company.
- If wine is more your scene than beer, there are also plenty of great Hood River Wineries to visit.
- Take the time to explore downtown Hood River, where you’ll find a great range of charming boutiques and fantastic art galleries. A favorite is Made in the Gorge, an artist-owned cooperative.
- If you’re in town with your sweetheart after a fun day of adventure, then don’t miss a romantic meal out at one of the best restaurants in Hood River. This area is an agricultural powerhouse, so you’re assured of fantastic local and seasonal menus everywhere you go, making this one of the most delicious things to do in Hood River. For a truly romantic meal, we love Stonehenge Gardens Wine Country Bistro.
- If you’ve spent your day in the chilly winter wonderland surrounding Hood River, come into town and enjoy one of its charming cafes and coffee shops.
- It may not be the time of year to drive the Hood River Fruit Loop, but you can see some of the magic behind the scenes of Hood River’s Agriculture by visiting the factory and museum at The Fruit Company.
- Though it’s not technically in Hood River proper, if you find yourself in town on a clear winter night, don’t miss stargazing at the Goldendale Observatory State Park.
When you’re day is done, retreat to our Washington Cabins, where a relaxing soak in our generous jacuzzi tubs is in order, featuring our Dead Sea bath salts.
