We’re lucky to have the finest Washington wine with so many wineries within an easy drive of our Columbia River Gorge Lodging. One of our favorites is Marchesi Vineyards on the Hood River plateau. Their wines are exceptional, and visiting their tasting room is an experience for every one of the senses.
Cushy sofas and chairs indoors, a spacious outdoor patio with a postcard view of their vineyards and Mount Hood. Slender crunchy bread sticks and trays of Italian meats and cheeses to enhance their lovely Italian varietal wines. You’ll usually find owners Franco and Sandra Marchesi busily pouring wine and handing out smiles right along with their tasting room crew.
The quality of service and attention to detail at Marchesi Vineyards reminds us of our own Hood River bed and breakfast. We, too, strive to deliver a five-star experience to every guest, pampering them with little extras just as the Marchesi family does at their tasting room.
A new release to taste.
Marchesi has just released their 2010 Nebbiolo, which they call Buja Nen. It features grapes from the famous Columbia Valley in central Washington a couple of hours north of us, an AVA long known for producing superior reds. And how do they describe their newest wine?
“Dark for a Nebbiolo, with copper reflections. On the nose you will notice the wonderful aromas and flavor that follow in the palate. Muscular in mouthfeel, but with great elegance and finesse that are typical of this Piedmontese varietal.”
We’re looking forward to tasting this new arrival, and we know you are, too. Tasting room hours are Thursday – Monday, 11 am – 6 pm. It’s an easy day-trip from Portland or Vancouver, but why not complete the experience by spending a night or two with us at our Hood River bed and breakfast? We have luxurious cabins in Washington state waiting for you.
