The Hood River County Fruit Loop is a self-guided tour that will give you an up close and personal view of dozens of farms, roadside fresh fruit stands, wineries, berry patches, and more. Indulge in delicious fresh fruits, local wines, baked goods, and other fruity treats. It’s the perfect way to experience the rich agricultural traditions of the Gorge.
Fruit has been grown along the Hood River County Fruit Loop since the mid-1800s; many local farmers work on land that has been in their families for generations. Friendly and generous, the farmers of our area encourage visitors to explore and harvest. There are many U-pick farms along the route, meaning you get to harvest the fruits yourself, or you can stop at one of the many fruit stands along the way to choose from fresh selections.
Getting fresh fruits or local goods from these farms and stands make a great souvenir or unique gift to take back home. Imagine spreading some jam from the Columbia River Gorge on your toast every morning, even after you’re home from your vacation. It will spark great memories time and time again.
Visitors can usually make it through the entire loop in a day. However, you are more than welcome to choose any stands, farms, or wineries you desire. Break up your trip by visiting a few stands each morning, or make a day out of it by completing the entire thing.
If you’d like to embark on the Hood River Fruit Loop while the fruit trees are in bloom, it’s best to stay at Carson Ridge Luxury Cabins any time between the end of March and May. If you’d like to see the blossoms at their peak, come during mid-April.
