Plan for the Upcoming Ski Season on Mount Hood!

As November rolls around, it means that ski season is just around the corner. Now’s the perfect time to plan your upcoming ski trips, including adventures at nearby Mount Hood. This iconic Pacific Northwest mountain is stunning year-round, but it becomes a veritable winter playground for snowsport enthusiasts in the winter. There are several great places to ski in the Mount Hood Area, but one of our favorites is Mt Hood Meadows.

Mt Hood Meadows is one of four ski resorts on our beloved Mount Hood for downhill skiing and snowboarding. It’s the largest of the four, but more than that, Mt Hood Meadows is one of the largest ski resorts in Oregon. The season here is long, thanks to the mountain’s 400-500 annual inches of snowfall.

As you plan your ski getaways this winter, you’ll want to make sure you book great accommodations. There are lodging options on Mt Hood, but they are nothing compared to the intimate, luxury atmosphere you’ll enjoy at our elevated cabins in the Columbia River Gorge. We’re just an hour away from skiing, but staying here puts you right in the heart of the Gorge’s breathtaking scenery, not to mention near the fantastic shops, restaurants, breweries, and more in towns like Stevenson and Hood River.

Our cabins are truly an exceptional place to stay all winter long. Get your upcoming ski trips on the calendar and book your cabin today!

Skiing at Mt Hood Meadows in Oregon

There’s no shortage of great places to ski on the famed slopes of Mount Hood – but there’s also no doubt that Mt Hood Meadows is one of the best spots. Here, you’ll find a fantastic variety of trails and terrain, making it a skiable paradise for skiers of all levels. Mt Hood Meadows is the largest ski resort on Mount Hood, which draws in plenty of skiers and snowboarders. Even so, it rarely feels overly crowded in the way some spots can.

Mt Hood Meadows features 2,150 skiable acres with 11 lifts and 87 trails. The longest run here is an incredible three miles long, meaning you’ll spend so much more time skiing down the mountain than standing around in line. Mt Hood Meadows also has night skiing, which is a must if you’ve never experienced it. There is nothing quite like skiing in the lit-up night skies of the Pacific Northwest.

In addition to downhill skiing and snowboarding opportunities, Mt Hood Meadows has a Nordic Center. The Meadows Nordic Center features cross-country ski rentals, lessons, guided snowshoe tours, snowshoe rentals, and access to a beautiful 15 km network of groomed trails in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Of course, Mt Hood Meadows is just one of the Mount Hood ski areas waiting for you. Other three ski areas to consider are Timberline Lodge, Hood River Skibowl, and the Cooper Spur Ski Area.

  1. The alpine experience at Timberline Lodge is unique, with more than 4,500 vertical feet to descend. That’s more vertical than any other ski resort in the country. The ski season is long here, too, often lasting for ten months out of the year. The lift features 6 High-Speed Quads, 2 Doubles, 1 Surface, and 2 Passenger Snowcats, and it’s also well-known for its industry-leading terrain parks.
  2. Hood River Skibowl is another excellent choice for winter skiing on Mount Hood. It features 69 runs, 36 of which are fully lit for night skiing. The runs vary from steep black diamonds to gentle green runs for the newest skiers. This is also where you’ll find Mount Hood’s only conveyor-assisted tubing hill for even more fun in the snow.
  3. Old-school skiers will love Mount Hood’s Cooper Spur Ski Area. This spot is smaller, with 50 acres of beginner and intermediate runs. Cooper Spur is a popular cross-country ski and snowshoe destination, with four miles of diverse trails beginning at the Nordic Center.
